First Steps
Welcome to AlbionManager! This guide will walk you through the essential first step to get your Discord bot up and running. Before you can use any features, you must complete the initial setup process.
/setup start command is mandatory and must be completed before any other bot functionality is available. This includes member registration, dashboard access, and all administrative features.
📋 What You Need Before Starting
Before running the setup command, make sure you have prepared the following:
1. Discord Server Preparation
- Bot Permissions: Ensure the bot has "Administrator" permission or at minimum "Manage Roles"
- Your Role Position: Make sure you have administrator permissions in the server
- Bot Position: The bot's role should be positioned above all roles it will manage
2. Required Discord Roles (11 Total)
Create these Discord roles before starting setup:
Core Roles (3 required):
- Member Role: Main role for all registered guild members
- Management Role: For bot administrators and guild officers
- Booster Role: For Discord server boosters
Combat Class Roles (8 required):
- Arcane Support - Magic support specialists
- Battlemount - Mounted combat experts
- Clump Tank - Group tanking specialists
- Curse Support - Curse magic users
- D-Tank - Damage tank hybrid
- DPS - Damage dealers
- Healer - Support and healing
- Oathkeeper/Groot - Tank specialists
Region Roles (3 required):
- NA - North America players
- EU - Europe players
- ASIA - Asia players
3. Server Infrastructure
- Log Channel: Create a dedicated channel for bot activity logs
- Bot Channel: Recommended to have a channel where members can use bot commands
4. Albion Online Information
You'll need one of the following:
- Your Guild Name: The exact name of your Albion Online guild, OR
- A Guild Member Name: The player name of any member in your guild
- Server Region: Know which Albion Online server your guild plays on (Americas, Europe, Asia)
🚀 Setup Commands Overview
The bot provides three setup commands to manage your guild configuration:
/setup start
Purpose: Initial bot configuration and updates
Required: Must be run first before any bot features work
Usage: Configure all 11 Discord roles and guild settings
/setup check
Purpose: View current configuration
Required: No parameters needed
Usage: See all your current role mappings and settings
/setup reset
Purpose: Reset all configuration
Required: No parameters needed
Usage: Clear all settings (use with caution!)

When you run the setup command, the bot performs these steps:
- Permission Verification: Checks if you have admin permissions
- Premium Check: Verifies your server has premium access to the bot
- Albion API Validation: Validates your guild/player name with Albion Online servers
- Role Validation: Verifies all 11 Discord roles exist and are accessible
- Database Setup: Creates your guild configuration in the bot's database
- Feature Activation: Enables all bot features for your server
- Confirmation: Sends a success message with your configuration summary

🔧 Troubleshooting Setup Issues
Common Setup Problems
"Missing Permissions" Error
Solution:
- Ensure you have Administrator permission in the Discord server
- Make sure the bot has Administrator permission or "Manage Roles"
- Check that the bot's role is positioned above all roles it will manage
"Role Not Found" Error
Solution:
- Verify all 11 roles exist in your Discord server
- Check role names for typos (role selection in Discord should show available roles)
- Ensure you're selecting actual roles, not typing role names
"Guild/Player Not Found" Error
Solution:
- Double-check the spelling of your guild or player name
- Verify the name exists in Albion Online
- Make sure you selected the correct server region
- Try using a player name instead of guild name, or vice versa
"Premium Required" Error
Solution:
- Contact the bot owner to verify your server's premium status
- Check if your server is in the premium server list
- Ensure premium subscription is active
